Exclusives don't matter as much as they used to, but if you have an Xbox 360, you should be excited to know that there are a few games you can't play anywhere else. With tons of Kinect titles, several big sequels, and some great downloadable exclusives, this was a banner year for the 360. Here are five games that stand a head above the rest.

the gunstringer
5. The Gunstringer
Child of Eden may be the more artful and emotional experience with the Kinect in 2011, but since it wasn't an exclusive, Gunstringer takes the reigns with a game that's almost as good. The gameplay wore thin at times, but wondering what crazy thing would happen next made Gunstringer a hard game to put down. The use of FMV and the constantly charming storytelling made it a game that will go down in history as one of the more creative gaming endeavors of all time. It's like a mixed-media tapestry of new-age technology, long-dead graphics techniques, and garage developer charm.
Then there's The Wavy Tube Man Chronicles, an included DLC that adds a full FMV ode to Mad Dog McCree. A collaboration with Troma Entertainment (featuring Lloyd Kaufman in a starring role), this half-hour oddity is the craziest bit of pop-culture fan service you'll see this year. Like those old FMV games, Wavy Tube Man isn't very good, but you'll be too busy laughing to care.

forza 4
4. Forza 4
In a lot of ways, Forza 4 is simply a refinement of what Forza 3 did so well. The approachable take on the car simulator, with options to tailor it to your own skill and play style, isn't necessarily new. That said, Forza 3's framework of accessibility is brought to an entirely new level when combined with Forza 4's stunning new graphics and driving model. The feel of tires on tarmac in this game is unparalleled, making for driving that's so fun and challenging that I actually raced more than I wasted time in the game's brilliant paint editor and auction house.
There is more to do than ever, and even more reason to stay on the track, with a new Rivals mode that makes ghost racing the multiplayer spotlight, rather than the actual 16-player bumper car madness the online races become. Beating your friends' times is addicting and rewarding – you'll even earn credits and level up while you do it.

the dishwasher: vampire smile
3. The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile
Ska Studios have been the unsung heroes of Xbox 360 exclusives. With some of the best games in the Xbox Indie Games channel, including I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MBIES 1N IT!!!1 and ZP2KX, the team is one of the few continuing to do anything special in that space. One of their games, The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai, was so good that it got the upgrade to a full XBLA release.
The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile took what was already great and refined it even further. The result is pretty much the only 2D character action game that can hang with the likes of Bayonetta, God of War, and Ninja Gaiden. The game is deliciously responsive, balancing out tight controls with quick and punishing enemies. The result is that same kind of hyper-concentrated action that made Ninja Gaiden Black such a masterpiece. Shank could only wish it was this good.

iron brigade
2. Iron Brigade / Trenched
Back when Iron Brigade was still called Trenched, the game was plagued with so much lag that I could make a sandwich between frames. Some people never had a problem, but the lag wasn't an isolated experience, and for myself and those I played with, the lag made the game one of the biggest disappointments of 2011.
So why include it in this list? The disappointment was so high because Iron Brigade was so ridiculously good. We could barely help ourselves from suffering through one laggy match after another. Now the game has been patched, and the experience is greatly improved. With its lumbering mechs, intense action, addicting tower defense formula, and that undeniable Double Fine charm, Iron Brigade has it all.

1. Gears of War 3
Gears of War 3 may not be as emotionally powerful and perfectly paced as some reviewers made it out to be. Its story isn't the tragic and subtle conclusion it was praised as, but none of that matters, because those things aren't what make Gears of War 3 so good.
This third entry in the series has more substance than the first two, and a handful of genuine character moments, but the most beautiful and artful things Epic did with it are all in the moment-to-moment gameplay. There is a point where an entry in a series is so refined that it could almost be considered a reboot. Halo: Reach made this leap, and Gears 3 follows suit.
Every hiccup in controls, weapon balance, and combat has been nearly eliminated. The result is a game that finally fulfills the promise set forth by the first game's initial concept. This is a third-person shooter unlike any other, and an online shooter so good that it can sit alongside the best of the FPS genre. That's an impressive feat considering Epic never had a blueprint and dozens of other developers to copy off of along the way. 8812abc09 1229

Best-Xbox-360-games-of-2011
Check out some of the best Xbox 360 Kinect games of 2011 from a selection of titles exclusive to the Xbox 360 console.
The battle between the consoles continues to rage on, and will likely not miss a beat when the next generation of systems arrives in the next few years. So with the pressure always present and the rivalries not going anywhere, each manufacturer continues to look for ways to give its system the edge.
Sometimes that means changing your system to include unique hardware, as the Sony did with the PlayStation 3’s built-in Blu-ray player. Sometimes it means going after a new market, as Nintendo did. Sometimes it means updating the software to make the system appeal to more than just gamers, as Microsoft did with the XBox 360 Hard Drive. But the easiest way for manufacturers to get their systems to stand out is with exclusive games that can only be found on that system.
With that in mind, we went through the list and chose the five best games exclusive to the Xbox 360.

Call-of-Duty-Modern-Warfare-3

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

But wait, you say, isn’t Modern Warfare 3 also on the PS3 and PC?! Well here’s the thing, outraged imaginary Internet reader: the Xbox 360 Controller game is a massive hit on all platforms, but the  version is by far the best selling, and there is a clear advantage to playing it on Microsoft’s system. Call of Duty has become one of the leaders in the downloadable content (DLC) industry. Other developers offer bigger and more expensive (and therefore more profitable) DLC expansions, but Activision has made a steady business out of it. Plus, the relatively low development costs equal big profits, which in turn leads to more packs for eager gamers.
There are few games with fans as rabid for more content than CoD fans. After hundreds of hours playing the same maps, fans want more. Microsoft knows this, so they landed themselves a plush one-month exclusivity contract with Activision for all Call of Duty DLCs, giving 360 gamers access a month before the PS3 and PC users. For a casual or non-gamer, that may seem like nothing. A month isn’t that long, so who cares, right? But for a content-starved fan, gamer-time is much like dog years. It’s a big deal. So for people who are fanatical about the biggest franchise of the last decade, the Xbox 360 has a clear, massive advantage.

Child-of-Eden

Child of Eden

Child of Eden is a must have for anyone looking for a unique single-player experience on the Kinect. The game offers a visual and audio experience the likes of which most gamers will have never seen before. Through your movements, you control that way the music plays based on your skill and success. It’s an interactive music video that plays out on a background of abstract constructs. Creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi designed it as an experiment in synesthesia — the neurological condition where stimulation of one sensory leads to the experience of another. In this case, light and sound.
This game is also available for the PS3 using the PlayStation Move or a standard controller, but it was designed for the Kinect, and is a totally different experience. Using your body to control the audio and the visual stimuli makes for an immersive and incredible journey — one all Kinect fans should consider taking.

Forza-Motorsport-4

Forza Motorsport 4

Forza 4 is arguably the greatest driving game ever made. That title may switch hands when another game comes along to further expand the now-familiar driving simulator genre, but at the moment Forza 4 is king, and will keep that title for a while yet. And besides being the best driving game of the year, it is also one of the best games of the year of any genre.
With over 500 cars and more coming each month via DLC, and hundreds upon hundreds of races, you could literally play Forza 4 every day for years and not experience everything the game has to offer. Even non-car buffs can embrace the stylish look and the responsive controls of the game. Throw in a solid online offering, the integration of Top Gear, and a huge selection of tracks based on real world locations, and Forza 4 is the undisputed king of the digital road.

Gears-of-War-3

Gears of War 3

One of the best-known and best-selling Xbox 360 accessories franchises concludes its current story trilogy and goes out with a bang in with Gears of War 3. There will be more Gears games in the future, but the current story that began in 2006 wraps up with a massive single player experience that is heavily influenced by a multiplayer slant. The campaign offers a satisfying solo game, but up to three more teammates can also join you, dropping in and out whenever they like. You can play the same section multiple times, and each time have a different experience thanks to your companions.
Throw in a robust competitive multiplayer that offers a solid alternative to the competitive first-person shooters that dominate online gaming, plus two cooperative online game modes in the horde mode (where you and your friends fight off successively tougher waves of enemies), and the beast mode (where you are the enemies attacking AI humans), and you have one of the most complete packages of the year, regardless of console.

Halo-Combat-Evolved-Anniversary-Edition

 Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition

The game that saved the original Xbox returns in 2011 with new graphics and a new take on the old multiplayer mode. This Anniversary Edition gives old fans a chance to relive the experience, and new fans a chance to see how the game that became a phenomena began. The original game was also a success for a reason, so the remastering (released to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the game) helps to modernize a game that was already great.
Along with the remastered campaign that blends an open-world sensibility with a story-driven narrative, the multiplayer features six classic competitive maps, plus one Firefight (a cooperative online survival mode) map. Even with the glut of releases this year, the gameplay and design of the original Halo holds up. It may not have quite the shine that some of the new releases do, yet it is still one of the best releases of the year. 8812abc09 1227

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you”, your Father will give you everything you need (Matthew 6: 33).
Can I wish Merry Christmas to my recently divorced friend? Can I wish Happy New Year to another friend just diagnosed with cancer, to another who enters 2012 unemployed? Or is the meaning of those holiday greetings appropriate only for my “blessed” friends?
Three days before Christmas, Rachael and I enjoyed a sleigh ride through fields of Christmas lights with our three Cleveland granddaughters. Our Christmas is merry. And with our 45 years of strong marriage, two godly sons, two beautiful daughters-in-law, and five healthy grandkids, our new year promises to be happy.
BUT! Why does Jesus begin His call to live well with the word “but”? Look back at verse 32. He has just told us that hopes for a good life of blessings “dominate the thoughts of unbelievers”. I like my good life of blessings. But does my desire for those blessings to continue dominate my thoughts? Is that my deepest wish, my highest hope for a merry Christmas and a happy new year? Is there a greater good?

Only one Person fully knew the kind of merry and happy life that comes from putting first things first, the kind of secure rest that depends on trusting our Father to give us everything we need to live a truly “good” life. To the degree Jesus is formed in me as I celebrate Christmas 2011 and enter 2012, my richest thoughts, my highest ambitions, my deepest desires will center on knowing God and making His nature known to others by the way I relate. I will die to self, live for God and in the process, discover who I really am. Is Jesus really formed in me?
In Bethlehem, God declared war on Satan and his ways. Self-centeredness appeared in the cross-hairs of divine love. Sweet baby Jesus (who probably did cry in the manger) became the Divine Warrior who, by incarnating God’s kingdom for 33 years and securing its reign in our lives through His crucifixion and resurrection (Easter is coming), knew what it meant to wish us a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Whether you’re in a hospital bed or on a sleigh ride with grandkids, whether you’re negotiating a divorce or kissing your spouse under mistletoe, whether you’re praying for people you love as you celebrate Christmas alone or gathered at a family Christmas dinner, you can relate like Jesus – suffering without complaining, enjoying blessings without feeling entitled to them, revealing God by relating like God. Then, “you will have abundant joy”, His kind of joy, and peace “which exceeds anything we can understand” (John 16: 24 and Philippians 4: 7), a divinely merry Christmas and an unconquerdsly happy new year.
On behalf of Rachael, Andi, and Kep, as I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, am I praying that you will enjoy the good things that dominate the thoughts of folks who don’t know Jesus? Well, yes! Second things are good!
BUT: Knowing Christ is better. Entering the war against self-obsession, beginning with the battle raging in our own souls, is better. Loving like Jesus in our circle of friends is better. Knowing the joy of seeking first God’s kingdom is better. Yielding to the Spirit’s plan to form us more like Christ in 2012 is better.
So, until the best will be ours to fully enjoy forever (He is coming!), I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Warmly In Him,
From the “little team” at NewWay

EA Sports
Rated “E” for Everyone
Tiger Woods PGA 2012 “The Masters” is a bit more polished than last year’s version. When it comes to sports though, there isn’t much to improve upon from year to year except for some tweaks and polish. PGA 2012 is no different. There are some improvements on graphics, but for the most part it’s still a clean game on pretty courses. One thing I noticed is that Tiger Woods’ name is much smaller on the cover than it used to be.
Some of the classic courses make a return. You get to start off your season with TPC Sawgrass; St, Andrews Links; Pebble Beach; East Lake; Celtic Manor Resort; Liberty National; The Greenbrier; TPC Scottsdale; Whistling Straits; Waialae; Costa Navarino; Atlanta Athletic Club; TPC San Antonio; Royal Melbourne GC; Augusta Par 3; and Augusta National. Graphically, the courses are all pretty and represent the courses in real life. Some are much harder than others as you will find out on your own as you begin your career.
During the game you have the opportunity to be sponsored. Based on how well you do, sponsors will approach you and ask to sponsor you. The benefit of being sponsored is that if you complete their goals you will be rewarded with equipment in the pro shop being unlocked for you to use. You do not need money or experience points (XP) to purchase items. Your sponsors make them available to you as you gain experience and improve your game. Each sponsor has four levels with certain objectives to complete that vary between the sponsors. So go ahead and get a sponsor you so you can use some expensive clubs and wear non-golf style (fun) clothing.
Prior to embarking on the PGA tour you have to work your way to getting your PGA card. You have the opportunity to start in the National Tournament. The better you do, the quicker you will earn your PGA card so you can start your season and PGA tour. I won the first two courses then was offered a chance to play the Q-course. I won that and got my card. So three courses and I was in.
During the PGA tour you have the opportunity to set up your season to play from 1-4 rounds. This all depends on how many games of golf you have time for. You accrue points throughout the season so finishing in 1st place is not always a necessity. Being consistent will get you the green jacket. One particular thing I found annoying was that I could not play the first round of the season because I did not qualify, yet I was unable to qualify because I couldn’t get back to the previous tournament I was involved in. Once I accepted my PGA card I moved up and then couldn’t play the first round. The other annoying thing was that some courses can only be played if you buy them…with real money. Yeah, that’s a croc if you ask me. You lose points when you do not play all the courses. Some courses have prerequisites before you can play on them. Once you skip an event though, you cannot go back to it later. You lose all potential points you could have earned on that course.
The lamest part of the game is your caddie. He is about as dumb as a box of rocks. He will offer suggestions for you and even if he says the ball will go in the cup; sometimes it doesn’t even if the putt preview shows the path going right into the cup. This is very frustrating and worthy of throwing your controller in a pond…if there is one near you. Your caddie will improve as you play on courses and earn course mastery points. Until that point, your caddie is largely unreliable. Before you head off on the tour, I would play the course mastery levels as practice and try to make your caddie a bit better at his job before you start the season where every shot counts.
There are a series of rounds called “Master the Moments” where you get to play in real life historic situations. There are about 8-10 situations to play in, some are multiple holes while about half of them are one or two precision shots. In some cases you need to tune your clubs or get better ones before you can master some of these moments.
You get XP when you play the game and this is how you improve your attributes. You get XP even if you lose and you also get XP if you play online against your friends in unranked matches. You also earn course mastery when you play online as well. Even if you are killing time with buddies, you earn XP and can complete course mastery objectives. That’s kind of nice to earn XP when just having fun. It’s a good way to build up your personal golfer.
Online play is not as boring as it might seem. You can play “simultaneous” which means the eye gouging experience of watching someone else tee-up and hit the ball is nonexistent. As you play you will see a streak from their ball crisscross the screen. The game goes by much quicker this way. There is also a shot clock so if someone is dragging their feet they will be penalized by being slow.

PGA 2012 has its moments of glory and it’s frustrations as any golf game real or fake. It’s slightly more polished than last year’s edition like most sports games get from year to year. PGA 2012 is sure to please any golfer who can’t actually get to Scotland to play at St. Andrews. If you decide to hit the links just beware of your caddie. Sometimes I think mine is a saboteur, but other than that the game is as good as other Tiger Woods golf experiences.8812abc09 1223

Here is a great idea for a present for young children. These are artist canvases that we have painted to match the decore of the houses they will be hung in. We have then cut out the kids name in some coordinating fabric and stuck that to the top. We edged the letters with fabric paint (the stuff you squeeze out of the little containers – kindy glitz would work too). Then we just staped some ribbon around the front, attached flowers with buttons on them at various points to secure the ‘railing’ and then decorated little pegs that will hold the kids artwork that they bring home from preschool or kindy. We saw these in a trendy kids department store in Bondi and they wanted around $50 ……… we did these for less than $10 a piece, using mostly what we had here at home…………wish I had these when my kids were little. When i return from holidays I will show you the ‘art gallery’ that my sister and i have designed for my girls room, so their big girl artwork can also get displayed…………can you see where I used the big shot on this project?? You seriously need one of these machines…….Image

George and Vee are a stunning fair trade company that will be experiencing their third Fair Christmas Fayre with us this year. At last year’s Fayre I tried to commit to ONLY buying presents for others, but was too tempted by a gorgeus pair of George and Vee earrings so had to buy a little present for myself too.  Their stall is always jampacked with a huge array of unique accessories.
Helen combined her love of beautiful handmade items with her passion for fair trade and up cycling when starting George and Vee. Named after her grandparents – who were married for 62 years, Helen hopes her thriving business will last as least as long!
Helen wants to make fair trade beautiful items accessible to as many people as possible, she keeps her prices as low as she can, so more people can afford to shop ethically for their accessories and homewares. Helen chooses her products carefully, everything is colourful and has a sense of fun about it. Her jewellery is a unique blend of handmade oya lace and up-cycled fabrics, beads and semi precious stones. Her bestselling quilts made from old saris are both functional and beautiful, recycling at its best!
At Helen’s stall at Fair Christmas Fayre you will find lots of her beautiful handmade lace jewellery made by both Helen and the friends she has made in Istanbul,  a great selection of her hand stitched sari quilts and scarves made by a womens cooperative in India and fun & brightly coloured felted and leather accessories from cooperatives in India and Nepal to name but a few choice items! To see some of her previously sold items visit her Etsy page (the online will be fully stocked and running by the beginning of the new year.)
I especially love these hand sewn lace necklaces, they have a certain vintage feel to them.
Alot of their jewelry uses really vibrant colours and stones, I know a lot of women that would look AMAZE in this beautiful statement piece.
Get along to the Fair Christmas Fayre THIS SATURDAY at 275 Oxford Street, from 12-7pm to see George and Vee’s full selection of twinkly treats. 8812abc09 1221

Today I’m going to share with you how I make my button box that works both on PC as well as PS3.
For those that are not familiar with button box’s concept. it is a box/panel with buttons for quick access to your most important controls/ switches in-car during your sim racing.
for example: Changing Brake Bias to Forward or Back, setting fuel level during pit , tire, check lapp time. position and Delta Time, Mute, Start Engin, Ignition, speed limiter , pit request etc.

Normally during gameplay you could assign this to your steering wheel, however to give it a bit more depth in realism, just like real race car, that use button box, well… like most race cars except open wheeler, I decided to built one this time.
If you own(ed) DFGT wheel, you know that you can change car settings live during gameplay in Gran Turismo 5 with the RA dial, but using a GT3 RS v2, gave no assignable buttons on the wheel in game except, Start, Select, Circle, and L1, this has been my main reason in PS3, and in PC, I built this for iRacing and rFactor.
On PC, it is pretty easy to assign these buttons to those request/ parameter, it is in game control settings, however in PS3, the only racing game I know of that allows secondary controller to act like controller 1 is Gran Turismo 5. ( if you don’t know: press PS button on that controller and assign it to controller 1 / the controller number of you steering wheel) and this needs only done once after PS3 starts.
The main board I used for this is a Toodles Cthulhu Boards that I purchased a while ago to make a Fight sticks for Street fighter(s) that works with PS3 and PC, now if you have old Fightstick that you are not using any more and they works with both systems feel free to use them as well, make sure you know which solder points are to which button.

The Cthulhu board is very straight forward, there are no solder points, as picture above. it uses a quick release points for all your wire, the boards are not labelled however they come with a very detailed instruction with picture explaining which socket does what.

an old creations, my proud and joy before I discovered Sim Racing.
Luckily I have more than enough of this PCB at my disposal, and I know because all my fight sticks works with PS3 and PC natively,

To build this I use
  1. An ABS Project box with a dimension of 178 x 122 x 55mm, it is a very very thick and smooth looking box.
  2. 10 x Momentary buttons (apparently)weather proof. (Select, PS, L1, L2, R1, R2, Triangle, Square, Circle and X)
  3. 1 x Sanwa Button for Start Button
  4. a Missile switch to disconnect and power everything in the box (Just for added Look and Security)
  5. about 2 -3 m of Wire ( feel free to use wire from your CAT 5 Network cable , they work just fine, just make sure they are multi thread core as single core are hard to bend)
  6. 2 x Momentary 2 way toggle switch ( for directional Pad connection “Left”, Down” Up” right”)
  7. 1 x A4 sheet of 3M Di-Noc Carbon layer
  8. Quick disconnects, for connecting cable to those buttons
Once all the material above arrived , I drilled 11 x 13mm holes for the black buttons and missile switch on the faceplate according to the layout that I want, and another 30mm holes for the sanwa button., Cover the box with the 3M Di-Noc carbon layer and cut the drilled holes for buttons fitting and fit the buttons.
For the connection point, I made a square hole on the side so the PCB’s USB port stick out flushed on the side of the box for easy disconnection.
I crimped the quick disconnects to the wire as picture above for every single wire. leaving the end bit open for screwing it into the PCB Terminals.
connect your USB cable to your PS3 , pressed the home button and assigned it to controller 1 and THAT’S IT.
At the moment I am still waiting for 2 of the toggle switches to arrive before i complete this project, however during testing, every button works , and works really well.
I have been using this for 2 races in iRacing Last night and I must say they are so much better than finding that key on keyboard.
Here are some more pictures of the end result, I will post more picture in action and videos once the Toggle switch arrived. If you enjoy driving games and in to racing sims, a button box is going to be your help from time to time.
enjoy,
Marcus

2 Empty spots on top for toggle switches once they’ve arrived.

I’ve made Mounting Point for HumanRacing GT Chassis ...will post more pictures once finished,  As Promised, the toggle switch are not here yet is now at the bottom picture, however the mount is finished, this is built from a piece of aluminium plate, M6 holes and screw nuts to the bottom of the box. turns out very solid.

Overall time taken for this project is about 2 hours spread over 3 days. It has been a fun process Hope this helps you somehow :)
